Amy Spady (Head Coach)

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I started swimming on my local summer team at the age of 6, and year round at the age of 11. I middle school I ran cross country, swam, and ran track. I really got into swimming when I entered 9th grade and made my high school swim team. I was a Pennsylvania state qualifier in the 500 free all 4 years of high school. My Sophomore through senior seasons I also qualified in the 200 free and as a member of the 400 free relay team. My high school team won the state girls title my first three years in high school. I qualified for the junior national championships my senior year in the 200 free, but elected not to attend the meet because track season had already begun. I was captain of my high school team my senior year. My sophomore year I competed in the Pennsylvania state championship meet in cross country, swimming, and track. My junior and senior year I did not run cross country, but competed in the state track championship meet.

After high school I attended Duquesne University and was on the swimming team all 4 years. I was a captain my junior and senior year. I set numerous school records in relays and distance events. After graduation I started teaching 7th grade English in Frederick County. I was also the head girls swim coach at Frederick high school for 2 years. I then took a job teaching reading and 9th grade English at Middletown High School in Frederick county. I was the assistant swim coach for the knights for 3 years. I also coached for Monacacy Aquatic Club, and taught swim lessons at Hood college. In the summer I coach at Holly Hills Country Club and then at Hood.

I have been a reading and 9th/ 10th grade English teacher at Northwest High School for 2 years. I have also been the head coach for the Northwest swim team for 2 years, along with coaching the senior group for RMSC at the Germantown Indoor Pool. Last summer I was the head assistant coach for Manchester Farm swim team.
